Hans-Christian-Andersen Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

April 2 is a special day in the annual schedule for our school. It’s Hans Christian Andersen’s<\/strong> birthday and International Children’s Book Day<\/strong>. That is why we organize a project day every year around Hans Christian Andersen, his home country Denmark and his fairy tales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, the children can immerse themselves completely in the fairy-tale world of Hans Christian Andersen for a day.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our school as Advent calendar<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In December you can find the numbers 1 to 24 on the windows of our school. Every day a class decorates a window winterly. In the morning, a string of lights then shines in the day window and the work of art can be admired from the courtyard.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Our Reading Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Reading tests from previous years have shown that our students tend to achieve below-average results. Our goal is to improve the reading skills of all children so that they are well-prepared for the transition to secondary school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the 2023\/24 school year, we have integrated a daily reading session into our timetable. From 9:15 AM to 9:40 AM, reading takes place in all classes of the school during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We primarily use reading-aloud methods. The children read in pairs or with audiobooks. Reading aloud also has its place during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We base our approach on the experiences of Kirchdorf Primary School, which has shared its many years of expertise with us. Further information can be found here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading Aloud Day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Every year, in mid-November, the nationwide Reading Aloud Day takes place. Our school has been participating in this event for several years. On this day, reading aloud occurs in every class. It can be done by the teacher, the students, or even the parents. Sometimes, we also attend readings by children’s book authors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
