Hans-Christian-Andersen Day
April 2 is a special day in the annual schedule for our school. It’s Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday and International Children’s Book Day. That is why we organize a project day every year around Hans Christian Andersen, his home country Denmark and his fairy tales.
In this way, the children can immerse themselves completely in the fairy-tale world of Hans Christian Andersen for a day.
Our school as Advent calendar
In December you can find the numbers 1 to 24 on the windows of our school. Every day a class decorates a window winterly. In the morning, a string of lights then shines in the day window and the work of art can be admired from the courtyard.
Participation in the EU school program – weekly fruit and vegetables
Since the beginning of the 2019/20 school year, Hans Christian Andersen Elementary School has participated in the EU School Fruit and Vegetable Program. Once a week, each class receives a free box of Saxon fruits and vegetables. Our children were particularly taken with the bananas.
The aim of the EU school program is to increase the consumption and acceptance of fruit, vegetables and milk among children through a regular offering in Saxon daycare centers and kindergartens as well as elementary and special schools.
